Inter Library Loans

An inter library loan is where we borrow or source an item for you, that we do not have a copy of, or online access to, in WIT Libraries. A recent postgraduate survey carried out by the library found very high levels of satisfaction- "excellent service, the staff are very pleasant and professional" (WIT Library Survey, 2008). The service is available to WIT staff and students and to external borrowers by arrangement. The Inter Library Loans office is located in the Luke Wadding Library near the Main Circulation desk. Requesting an Inter Library Loan

Do not sign the Copyright Declaration form if your article request is intended for commercial purposes (applies to any activity that is directly or indirectly income generating). In this instance, you are required to contact the inter library loans team prior to submitting your request so that appropriate copyright fees can be applied. Users of WIT Libraries inter library loan service have a personal responsibility to become familiar with copyright law as it affects them.

 

 

Please note: If you require more than one article from a single journal issue, please apply to borrow the whole journal issue.

If you require a UK thesis, search EThOS (Electronic Theses Online Service) to see if a digitised version is available before submitting your request. If it has been digitised, it will be available on open access.

Your Entitlements / Charges

Students are charged for every inter-library loan requested. All charges are subject to change at the Librarian's discretion. If you are unsure of your entitlements please contact us. The following rates currently apply:

Books   €7.50  Theses            €12.50
Journal Articles  €6.50  Patents  €15.00

You will be notified by e-mail or telephone when your inter library loan arrives.
Books are usually supplied within 7-10 days and journal articles are generally supplied within 3 days.
Please note: All items ordered must be paid for upon receipt, and regardless of the waiting period involved. WIT Libraries cannot take responsibility for delays in receipt of items which are beyond our control.
